Holy Eid-ul-Azha, the second largest religious festival of the Muslims, will be celebrated across the country tomorrow (Friday) amidst a spirit of sacrifice and with enthusiasm, reports UNB.
Commemorating Prophet Ibrahim's (R) profound faith in Allah and his great sacrifice, the Muslims, according to their ability, will sacrifice various kinds of animals to seek the blessings of the Almighty.
People in thousands have already left the capital for their homes across the country to celebrate the Eid with their kith and kin. Bus, launch and railway stations were seen crowded with the people, rushing for their homes.
The usual mirth and enthusiasm of the Eid festival will, however, be absent, particularly among the people in the coastal region, battered by the devastating cyclone Sidr on November 15.
A 3-day government holiday for Eid-ul-Azha has begun from today (Thursday). Newspaper offices will also remain closed on the three days.
The main Eid jama't (congregation) will be held at the National Eidgah at 8am. President Professor Dr Iajuddin Ahmed will offer his Eid prayer there.
