EU worried about killings, renews call for talks

The European Union (EU) has expressed concern over the recent incidents of extrajudicial killing, abduction and disappearance, and demanded proper investigations into all the cases to ensure justice, report agencies.

"We've expressed our concern, and we continue to express our concern.  

All cases should be properly investigated and (perpetrators) brought to justice," said Ambassador William Hanna, Head of Delegation of European Union (EU) to Bangladesh, Thursday.

Hanna also renewed call for a dialogue between major parties to solve the political crisis as he believes trade, investment, development and political conditions "all are interlinked".

He was addressing a joint press conference at a city hotel on the occasion of the Europe Day.

The EU celebrates May 9 as 'Europe Day' as on that day in 1950 Robert Schumann, the foreign minister of France, made a declaration which laid the foundations of today's 28-country bloc.

Acting British High Commissioner Nick Low, Denmark Ambassador Hanne Fugl Eskaer, Netherlands Ambassador Gerben Sjoerd de Jong, Spain Ambassador Luis Tejada Chacon, France Ambassador Michel Trinquier, German Ambassador Dr Alberecht Conze, Charge d' Affaires of Sweden Embassy Karin Rohlin and Charge d' Affaires, of the Embassy of Italy Edmondo Falconi were also present.
