Ex-BNP lawmaker Sarwar Jamal Nizam arrested

CHITTAGONG, June 22 (UNB): Former BNP lawmaker Sarwar Jamal Nizam was arrested by joint forces from Chittagong Club gate in the city early today (Friday).
Sources said the joint forces detained Nizam while he was getting out of the club at about 12:45 am.
After searching his car, they also found three bottles of foreign liquor and five cans of beer. Later, they took Nizam to his Nasirabad house in the city, searched his house and seized some important documents in the morning.
He was later taken to RAB-7 office in Chittagong and was being interrogated by the joint forces.
During the BNP rule, Nazma Begum, wife of slain businessman and BNP leader Jamal Uddin, in a written complaint to the then Prime Minister Khaleda Zia against Nizam and his brother Maruf Nizam blamed them for the abduction and murder of her husband.
