The 80 expatriate Bangladeshi workers who failed to get jobs and facilities in Malaysia being cheated by a Malaysian recruiting company will get the expenses to return home and all their money deposited with the agency.
An inter-ministerial probe team, which went to Kuala Lumpur (KL) to make an on-the-spot investigation, said of the latest developments over the scam upon their return to Dhaka Saturday.
The high-level mission apprised Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Adviser Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury of the findings in their preliminary report, which contains several "positive" decisions on Malaysian immigration issue.
The adviser gave directive for formulating necessary recommendations for solving the problems of the Bangladeshi workers in Malaysia.
The mission also said that as the workers filed a case, the issue of their arrears would be resolved through the court.
Secretary of the Expatriate Welfare Ministry Abdul Matin Chowdhury led the delegation to Kuala Lumpur.
Some "positive decisions" have been taken regarding the workers following meetings with the Malaysian home minister, the home secretary, the director general of human resources ministry and other high officials.
The decisions include ensuring speedy immigration clearance of the workers at Kuala Lumpur airport, raising the time-limit of the entry visas of the Bangladeshi workers from one month to two months, continuing the present rate of issuance of call-in-visa, and a stop to the cancellation of the call-in-visa without prior notice to the high commission or the recruiting agent.
