The parliamentary sub-committee on Education Ministry Monday again asked former caretaker government chief Fakhruddin Ahmad and ex-army chief General Moeen U Ahmed to appear before the committee within June 05 to explain their positions about students-army violence in 2007, report agencies. "We think they should appear before the parliamentary sub-committee. We have asked them to be present before the committee within June 05," convener of the parliamentary sub-committee Rashed Khan Menon told a press briefing at the Media Centre in Sangsad Bhaban. Earlier, the sub-committee held a meeting in Sangsad Bhaban. About outcome of the meeting, Menon said letters will be issued to them soon with a request to appear before the committee. Rajshahi Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) chief and Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI) chief who were on duty during the unrest in 2007 were also asked to appear before the sub-committee. Menon said three is no problem to appear before the committee. "It is not a matter of shame. We do not say they are being compelled to appear before the committee. We have asked them in the interest of democracy."
