The Ministry of Finance (MoF) is expected to make out a case for adopting a separate pay-scale for the central bank officials at the meeting of the council of advisers, sources said.
The advisory committee headed by Finance Adviser Mirza Azizul Islam recommended early this month for fixation of such pay scale.
The MoF has already got the pay scale vetted by the ministry of law and completed other formalities to send the proposal to the council of advisers, sources added.
Such development will at least bury the speculation by different quarters that the advisory committee in its meeting held on August 07 last rejected the proposal.
Sources said the committee refrained itself from settling the issue after reviewing the gravity of the proposals.
The committee also avoided any decision on the proposals for salary adjustment of three other government bodies and directed the concerned wing of the MoF to send the proposals to the council of advisers.
Ministry of the home affairs sought salary adjustment in the national security intelligence (NSI) and the fire service and the civil defence. Ministry of public works and housing also proposed for salary adjustment for its audit department officials.
The Bangladesh Bank proposed for a separate and independent pay structure for its officials last month.
Its proposal for introducing separate pay structure is almost similar to that of the Reserve Bank of India and the State Bank of Pakistan. The central bank has long been demanding introduction of such independent pay structure.
According to the MoF officials, the central bank proposed pay hike for dozen of posts.
