Fire kills one in city

A devastating fire that broke out at a slum in the capital's Shah Ali area early Friday, killed a young man and burnt down shanties, police said. Firefighters said the blaze originated from mosquito coil at a shanty of Kazi Bari slum and spread to the whole slum, leaving a 30-year-old man, Elin, killed on the spot at about 5:15 am. The fire also burnt at least 100 shanties of the slum into ashes.
