Five killed, 50 injured as bus falls into ditch

CHUADANGA, Apr 17: At least five passengers were killed and 50 others injured when a bus from the Mujibnagar public rally skidded off the road and fell into roadside ditch at Kuralgachhi under Damurhuda Upazila at 3:45 pm. The deceased were identified as Anwar Hossain (40), Ashraf Ali (38), Rashedul Islam (36), Rezaul Karim (45) and Sanwar Hossain (23). They were all residents of Bagdanga village of Maheshpur in Jhenidah district returning home after attending the public meeting of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasain at Mujibnagar. Sajjad Hossain, witness of the tragic accident, told the news agency that the Darshana bound bus of Atmra Enterprize from Mujibnagar met with the fatal accident as the driver in his bid to save a goat on his way lost control over the steering and fell into the ditch. -UNB
