Five of a family killed in gas cylinder blast

SYLHET, July 18: Five members of a family were killed and three others seriously injured in a gas cylinder explosion in Jagannathpur poura area of Sunamganj district Tuesday night. The deceased were identified as Kupesh Das (45), his three daughters Lima Das (9), Ruma Das (7) and Promy Das (3) and his nephew Bishu Das (20). Police said the explosion occurred with a big bang at about 8pm Tuesday when Kupesh's wife Nila Das was cooking on a gas burner in their kitchen, triggering a fierce flame. The explosion killed four people -- Kupesh and his three daughters Lima, Ruma, and Promy -- on the spot. —UNB
