Gastright due tomorrow

US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South Asian Affairs John A. Gastright, Jr arrives in the city tomorrow (Tuesday) on a two-day visit to Bangladesh with election roadmap on top of his agenda, reports UNB.
He will hold discussions with senior government officials and members of civil society on a wide range of bilateral issues, in particular progress on the roadmap towards free, fair elections by the end of 2008.
The US government functionary is scheduled to meet Chief Adviser Fakhruddin Ahmed, Foreign Adviser Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury and Army Chief General Moeen U Ahmed.
"He looks forward to productive and positive meetings during his stay," a release of the US embassy said Sunday.
Gastright, who is in charge of US foreign affairs with Bangladesh, Pakistan and India, last visited Bangladesh in December 2006.
