The programme was also arranged simultaneously in 491 upazilas of the country.

Terming Bangabandhu a visionary leader, the finance minister said, "The father of the nation had planned everything to take the country ahead, but he couldn't do it for untimely death."

He added: "We are just implementing the visions of Bangabandhu under the able leadership of the prime minister."

Mr Kamal also said Bangladesh's economy will surpass the economy of Singapore and Malaysia in between 2025 and 2030 and that of Taiwan by 2031.

Bangladesh will become the 24th economy in the world by 2027 and will enter top 20 before 2041, he said.

He claimed that all the predictions he made about the country's economy in last ten years have come true and the success will continue in the coming days.
