The government is likely to withdraw the newly-imposed 15 per cent VAT on the lawyers, NBR officials said. They said a proposal was sent to the Finance Ministry for its views about waiving VAT on legal practitioners. The ministry nodded the proposal. An official announcement is likely shortly. The Finance Adviser, in his budget speech, in June had promised 15 per cent VAT on lawyers' fees. —UNB
