Govt relaxes emergency rules for 21 days in election areas

The government has relaxed the emergency rules for 21 days allowing electioneering through procession, meeting and rally in the city corporations and municipalities where elections will be held, reports UNB.

The relaxation was made through a gazette notification of the Home Ministry Friday as per the Local Government (City Corporation) Ordinance 2008 and the Local Government (Municipality) Ordinance, 2008 as well as the rules made under the Ordinances.

The emergency would be relaxed for 21 days from the date of withdrawal of nomination papers on July 13.
