The government would bear the responsibility if BNP cannot go to polls, said the party secretary general Khandker Delwar Hossain Sunday, reports UNB.
He told electronic media at Naya Paltan party office that BNP very much wanted to go to December 18 election. But the atmosphere for the polls had not been created, which needed acceptance of their 7-point demand.
He declined a specific reply if they would go to polls or not under the given situation.
BNP standing committee member Chowdhury Tanvir Ahmed Siddiqui told the electronic media at his Motijheel office, "Efforts are on to render the election uncertain and bring in unseen power to the forefront."
He said the "outcome of election without BNP will not last more than three to 30 days. There had been no election in Bangladesh without BNP and Awami League nor it will be in future."
Asked if his party wanted to defer the election Tanvir said, "In that case, two leaders (Khaleda, Hasina) together should come to a logical decision for the greater interest of the nation."
