Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and opposition leader Khaleda Zia have greeted each other on the occasion of Holy Eid-ul-Azha. The premier and the opposition leader sent Eid greeting cards to each other Monday. On behalf of the Prime Minister her APS 2 M Saifuzzaman Shekhor handed over the Eid greeting card to the opposition leader's APS, M Suratuzzaman at the office of the leader of the opposition in parliament at 1-45 pm. On behalf of Khaleda, her APS Suratuzzman handed over the Eid greeting card to the PM's APS-2 at the Prime Minister's Office at 4-15 pm. - UNB Schoolboy killed at his residence in city A schoolboy was slaughtered at his Mirpur Cantonment residence on Monday. The victim was identified as Shaon, 13, a class-IX student of a school run by Navy at Mirpur section-14. Police said Shaon, son of Farid Ahmed, was found dead at a flat of MES (Military Engineering Services) quarter. His mother, Hasina Begum, is an MES draft woman, they said. Pallabi police recovered the blood stained body of Shaon in the evening. The motive behind the killing could not yet be known. Officials of Detec­tive Branch (DB) and Cri­minal Investigation Depart­ment (CID) visited the spot, said a police officer. -UNB
