Her parole was extended earlier on August 7, which was due to expire on September 6. Hasina, facing corruption charges, walked to freedom from the high-security Sangsad Bhaban makeshift sub-jail on June 11 after 11 months of detention since her arrest amid a crackdown on the political arena following the 111 changeover. brShe was set free following a government executive order on a eight-week parole with permission to go abroad for better treatment of her ears and eyes, following a thaw in the standoff between the interim regime and the politicians. Hasina flew to the USA the following day.
