HC declares Babul's detention illegal

The High Court (HC) Wednesday declared the detention of Nurul Islam Babul, chairman of Jamuna Group, illegal. A division bench, comprising Justice Shah Abu Nayeem Mominur Rahman and Justice Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury, ordered the government to release Babul forthwith, if he is not wanted in any other cases. The order came upon a habeas corpus petition filed by Barrister Rafiqul Huq on behalf of Babul. — UNB
