October 01, 2007 00:00:00

The High Court Sunday postponed for three weeks the scheduled election to the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), reports UNB.
Passing an interim order, upon a writ petition, a bench headed by Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain issued a rule upon the FBCCI and other respondents to explain why the decision of its election tribunal dropping the names of Annisul Huq, ex-president of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), and its four members from the voter list should not be declared illegal.
"The rule has been made returnable in three weeks," said the court order.
Barrister Rafique-ul Huq appeared for Annisul Huq and others while Barrister Ajmalul Hosssin QC and Barrister Tanjibul Alam stood for the FBCCI.
