Houthi rebels kill two Bangladeshis in S Arabia

Two Bangladesh nationals were killed in mortar shells launched by Houthi rebels of Yemen in Najran area of south eastern province of Saudi Arabia, some 650 kilometres (kms) off Jeddah and 50 km from Yemen border.

According to a Foreign Ministry statement Monday, the deceased were identified as Mizan, son of Mr Mafiz of Bateshar village of Barura of Comilla and Abdul Jalil, son of Mr Abdul Aziz of Lemua village of Patharghata of Barguna.

It said both the deceased met the tragic end of their life by mortal shells while working in their respective working places in Najran on May 05 and 06.

Representatives of Bangladesh Consulate General, Jeddah, visited the area immediately after the incident and contacted the employers of the victims as well as their family members in Bangladesh.

Mortal remains of the victims have been preserved in the mortuary of the King Khaled Hospital in Najran.
