Immigration Act to be modified

The government has decided to modify the Immigration Act 1982 to remove barriers to manpower export. Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Ministry took the initiative after International Organisation of Immigration (IOM) has shown interest to cooperate with the government in this regard. A nine-member inter-ministerial committee, headed by Overseas Employment Secretary M Abdul Matin Chowdhury, has been formed to put forward recommendations for bringing dynamism in manpower export, said a press release. — UNB
