India has reacted to the death sentence handed to ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina in the July Uprising case while avoiding any direct comment on the ruling itself, reports bdnews24.com.
In its statement on Monday, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs said it would prioritise the "best interests" of the people of Bangladesh, focusing on peace, democracy, inclusion and stability.
"We will always engage constructively with all stakeholders to that end," it added.
Since fleeing to India after being removed from power on August 5 during the Uprising, Hasina has been considered a fugitive.
Law Advisor Asif Nazrul said the government will again write to India to secure Hasina's extradition.
