Jamaat leader killed in clash with BNP in Sherpur

Secretary of Sherpur's Sribardi upazila Jamaat Rezaul Karim was reportedly killed following a clash between BNP and Jamaat, Private TV channels and online news portals reported on Wednesday
He died at 9:45 pm on the day. Earlier, the clash took place at a function organized by the upazila administration at the Jhenaigati Upazila Parishad ground in the afternoon.
At least 50 leaders, activists and supporters of BNP and Jamaat were injured in the violent clashes in Jhenaigati upazila of the district.
The clashes took place in a manifesto-reading programme, which was organised by the upazila administration at Jhenaigati Stadium ahead of the 13th national parliamentary election and referendum, the reports said, quoting upazila administration and local sources.
The programme involved rival candidates from Sherpur-3 constituency, Sribardi-Jhenaigati.
Before the programme began, an argument erupted over control of seating chairs at the stadium, which later escalated into clashes.
