The agitating students of Jagannath University (JnU) withdrew their hunger strike on Monday night after the government authorities assured them of meeting their demands.
Earlier on Sunday, the students launched the strike in front of the secretariat as part of their agitation programme.
The demands include handing over the second campus project to the army and providing permanent accommodation for students.
Prof Nasir Uddin Ahmed, a teacher of JnU English department, broke the students' hunger strike.
Later, JnU student AKM Rakib announced the withdrawal of their 35-hour strike. However, the university's activities will remain suspended until our demands are met, he added.
The next course of action will be decided if the education ministry fails to fulfil the demands in a meeting tomorrow (Wednesday), he added.
Since Monday, the students had enforced a shutdown and boycotted classes and examinations by locking the university's main gate.
About 15 students fell sick during the hunger strike. They were admitted to hospitals.
