Journalist Zaglul passes away

Zaglul Ahmed Chowdhury


Renowned journalist and columnist Zaglul Ahmed Chowdhury, passed away on Saturday night at a city hospital following a road accident.
His son told the FE quoting the attending doctor that he was declared dead at 8:30 pm on the day while undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit of the city’s Comfort Hospital. According to sources, the consulting editor of the FE met with the tragic accident while getting down from a bus at Karwan Bazar in the city at about 8:00 pm.
He was first admitted to a nearby hospital but as his condition deteriorated, he was transferred to the Comfort Hospital on the Green Road.
Zaglul was made Chief Editor and Managing Director of the state-run Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) in 2006.
Chowdhury had served as a special correspondent of the agency for 35 years.
He wrote on South Asia and worked as diplomatic correspondent for the best part of his career.
He authored a number of books, including 'Bangladesh's Relations with India, Myanmar and Nepal: The Impact on Citizens and Development' and 'Global Flashpoint: South Asia and Meddle East' apart from many write-ups on politics and foreign relations.
