It noted that the government imposed curfew on the six divisional cities, including Dhaka, from 8:00 pm on August 22 for protecting people's life and property and to keep law and order under control. "The law and order situation of the country gradually returned to normal following the imposition of curfew."
Some individuals have already been detained over the incidents of August 20 and thereafter, and measures are being taken against the detainees as per the existing law, the government said. "If the allegations against someone is not proved, he/she will definitely be released."

In the release, the interim administration admitted the involvement of police and members of other law-enforcing forces in what it called some untoward incidents with journalists, government employees and members of other professions in the aftermath of the imposition of curfew on August 22 night regarding curfew passes and other matters.
"The government deeply regrets this type of unwarranted incidents. The government will take necessary steps to prevent a repeat of such incidents," the release added.
