Kasem Khan made DCCI president

The country's renowned businessman and industrialist Abul Kasem Khan was elected president of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) Tuesday for the year 2010.
M. Shahjahan Khan and Md. Sirajuddin Malik have been elected senior vice president and vice-president respectively of DCCI for the period. The new board of directors took over charge at the 48th annual general meeting (AGM) of DCCI at the Chamber Auditorium Tuesday.
The newly elected DCCI president was born in an illustrious Muslim family in Chittagong in 1968. He obtained Bachelor in Business Administration degree from Xavier University, Cincinnati, Ohio, USA. Abul Kasem Khan is the director, corporate investment of A K Khan & Co. Ltd. (Telecom Division), Akceycom Ltd., Infocom Ltd. and member of Dhaka Stock Exchange.
M. Shahjahan Khan is the managing director of S S Shipping and Trading Ltd and chairman of S S Builders and Developers Ltd. Besides, he is the director of Basic Dredging Co. Ltd. and Multilink Resources Ltd. He obtained Masters degree in Economics from Dhaka University in 1973. He obtained diploma in Professional Shipping from Norwegian Shipping Academy, Oslo in 1981.
Md. Sirajuddin Malik, the re-elected vice-president of DCCI, was a vice-president of DCCI for the years 1993-94 and 2009. He is the chairman of the standing committee of FBCCI on Trade Body of Old Dhaka City.
Mr Malik was the founder general secretary, senior vice president and president of Bangladesh Shoe Makers' Association. He is also vice-president of Dhaka Samity, and member and former president of Lions Club, Dhaka. He is the managing director of Capital Plastic & Rubber Industries, Capital Chemical Industries, Capital Plastic Garbage Recycling Industry and Capital Trading Company.
Six other newly elected directors for the tenure 2010-2011 are M Bashir Ullah Bhuiyan, T I M Nurul Kabir, Mahabub Anam, Waqar Ahmad Choudhury, Asif Ibrahim and K G Karim.
