The chairman of the Probe Committee on the share market scam, Khondkar Ibrahim Khaled said Friday it would be better for the government to disclose the names of those accused, mentioned in its report, reports UNB.
"As a citizen, I personally feel that the government could disclose the names of the accused. It could help increase transparency and acceptability of the government," he told the news agency.
Khondkar Ibrahim who is also the chairman of Bangladesh Krishi Bank (BKB), said: "I'm not suggesting to disclose their names as being 'guilty' but as the suspects."
Asked whether he supports the decision of the government, the probe committee chairman said he does not have the right to suggest the government on this issue. "I'm not a part of the government. We're asked to probe the matter; we did and submitted the report."
Earlier on Thursday last, Finance Minister AMA Muhith had said if he was convinced that the allegation was sustainable he would publish the names of the accused. The report will be made public within next 10-15 days.
"This is not a foolproof report. The committee told me to be sure about the individuals," Muhith told reporters adding that action would be taken as quickly as possible on the other allegations.
