BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, who has been on whirlwind electioneering, has accused the caretaker government (CG) of trying to make the country a vassal state and blamed Awami League (AL) for supporting such activities, reports UNB.
"They (caretaker government) wanted to make the country a vassal state and a particular party (indicating Awami League) assisted them to go to power through the back door," Khaleda told an election rally on Bashail court premises Saturday.
The BNP chairperson addressed meetings at different parts of Gazipur and Tangail since Saturday morning.
"Those who had said that this government (CG) was the outcome of their movement were trying to get back to power by misguiding the people… but you don't make this mistake, cast your votes for those who will work for you," she told the voters.
The BNP chairperson said they (AL) wanted to make the country a vassal state through various manoeuvrings and a remote control, "but people foiled that move."
Referring to Awami League's 'logi-boitha' movement two years back, Khaleda said the country was now on the brink of destruction just for that anarchy created by Awami League.
The BNP chief said the BNP led four-party alliance would return to power with two-thirds majority as she saw a wave of public support in favour of 'sheaf of paddy', the election symbol of BNP. "It's the BNP that can protect and uphold Islamic values in Bangladesh," she added.
Khaleda also said all necessary measures would be taken to bring down the prices of essentials, including that of rice and pulses, if the BNP-led alliance was voted to power.
Charging Awami League with doing the politics of killing, Khaleda urged the people to vote for BNP to put an end to the miseries they suffered in the last two years.
