Khaleda, four others asked to appear before court Oct 12

A Dhaka Court Monday issued arrest warrants against nine accused in Barapukuria coalmine corruption case, including former ministers of the immediate past BNP-led government Saifur Rahman and Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid, report UNB and bdnews24.com.
Dhaka metropolitan senior special judge Md Azizul Haque issued the warrants and ordered submission of arrest reports to the court by Oct 12.
Arrest warrants have also been issued against former minister Aminul Haq, former state minister for energy AKM Mosharraf Hossain, former energy secretary Nazrul Islam, former chairman of Petrobangla SR Osmani and former director (mines and minerals) Moinul Ahsan, former managing director of Barapukuria Coal Mining Company Ltd Sirajul Islam, and chairman of Hosaf Group Moazzem Hossain, the local agent of the Chinese firm which was awarded the running of the coalmine.
The court also ordered BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia along with four members of her cabinet to appear before it on October 12 in connection with the case.
The four former ministers are Jamaat chief and former Industries Minister Motiur Rahman Nizami, ex-LGRD Minister and expelled BNP secretary general Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan, ex-Information Minister M Shamsul Islam and former Agriculture Minister MK Anwar. No arrest warrant has been issued against them, as they secured bail in the case from High Court.
