BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia Sunday invited Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to attend her party's fifth national council tomorrow (Tuesday), reports UNB.
On behalf of the BNP chairperson, a three-member delegation, led by opposition Chief Whip Zainul Abdin Farroque, went to the Prime Minster Office (PMO) carrying the invitation letter to formally hand over it to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Prime Minister's PS-2 Selima Begum received the invitation letter at 3:00pm from the delegation at the PMO on behalf of Sheikh Hasina.
The other members of the delegation are Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anie and Khaleda Zia's private secretary ASM Saleh Ahmed.
Talking to the news agency, Saleh Ahmed said they reached the PMO at about 2:45pm and handed over the invitation letter to the Prime Minister's PS-2.
He said Selima Begum told them that she would reach the invitation letter to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
A few months back, Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had also invited BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to attend AL's national council.
Meanwhile, bdnews24.com adds: Home Minister Sahara Khatun said Sunday Khaleda Zia would be provided with special security during the BNP council as demanded by her party.
Khaleda Zia now gets more security than she received in the past, Sahara told reporters after inaugurating a workshop at BIAM auditorium.
On granting her special security on the occasion of the BNP council, Sahara said: "We are providing extra security required for the BNP council session... There is no negligence with regard to Khaleda's security."
BNP secretary general Khandaker Delwar Hossain Saturday demanded special protection for party chief Khaleda Zia during the council.
