Launch fare cut by Tk 0.15 per kilometre

The government reduced Thursday fares of water transport by Tk 15 paisa per kilometre after fuel prices were lowered by Tk 5 per litre.

The ministry of shipping (MoS) issued a circular in this regard saying that the revised fares charts are scheduled to come into effect after Thursday 12:00 night.

The government cut fuel price by Tk 5.0 per litre on August 29.

River transport fares have been declined to Tk 2.85 per km for the first 100 km from the existing Tk 3.00 per km.

And beyond the first 100 km, the fare has been decreased to Tk 2.45 per km from the existing Tk 2.60.

The minimum fare has also been re-fixed at Tk 30, Tk 3 less that the existing Tk 33, according to the government notification.

Earlier the government increased the prices of fuel oils on August 5.

Following the fuel oils prices hike, launch fares were increased on August 16 last by 30.43 per cent for shorter distance and 30 per cent for longer distance.
