July 23, 2010 00:00:00

The Libyan government has declared a general amnesty for illegal workers, including those from Bangladesh, living in the country. The decision was communicated to the foreign ministry by the country's charge d'affaires in Dhaka. The meeting decided that the workers from Bangladesh, Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia, Sudan, Chad, Somalia, Nigeria, Mali and Turkey will get the amnesty. As per the decision, Bangladeshis living in the country illegally can obtain resident visa until August 15, paying a minimum fee of Libyan dinar 525. Those who would fail to get the visa by the deadline would be deported. — bdnews24.com
