Lifting of emergency depends on politicians' behaviour: Mainul

Law Adviser Mainul Husein has said lifting of the State of Emergency depends on the behaviour of politicians.
He made the observation while responding to reporters' query about the Chief Election Commissioner's suggestion that the emergency should be relaxed in areas where local body elections were scheduled from next January.
Mainul was talking to the newsmen at the Secretariat in the city Monday noon, reports UNB.
''It is the responsibility of the government to implement the Election Commissioner's proposal," the adviser said, adding that the emergency was imposed due to politicians who created crises.
Mainul said, "We too want lifting of the emergency but it depends on the politicians' behaviour as to when it will be withdrawn."
