Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) on Tuesday raised the prices of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) by nearly 4.84 per cent for May trading.
The country's private operators would now charge Tk 1,235 per 12kg cylinder, up by Tk 57 from April's retail prices of Tk 1,178.
The BERC chairman Md Nurul Amin announced the new prices of LPG used for cooking at a press briefing at commission's office in Dhaka on the day. The new price came into effect from 6:00 pm Tuesday.
The commission adjusted the cooking fuel price for the domestic market considering the Saudi Aramco contract price (CP) for May 2023 as the benchmark.
It also considered fluctuations in foreign exchange rates and changes in the value-added tax (VAT).
The Saudi Aramco CP price of propane and butane is US$555 per tonne each for May trading.
