More arms, ammo recovered

RAB members Wednesday presented before media the big cache of arms and ammunition, recovered from Satchharhi jungle under Chunarughat upazila in Habiganj during the last four days — Focus Bangla

HABIGANJ, June 4 (UNB):  Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) members recovered another cache of arms and ammunition on the second day of their drive Wednesday at Satchhari jungles along the Indian border in Chunarughat upazila.

New hauls include 222 (80 mm) anti-rockets, 248 rocket-chargers, four machineguns (7.62), five barrels, 11667 rounds of 7.62 mm bullets, 1320 rounds of 12.7 mm bullets and a rocket launcher.

On Tuesday, a team of Rab-9, led by additional director general Ziaul Ahsan, launched a special drive at Satachhari jungle at 10 am and recovered huge arms and ammunition from two bunkers. They halted the drive in the evening due to heavy rain.

The Rab team resumed the drive early Wednesday.

Rab director general Md Mokhlesur Rahman joined the special drive in Wednesday morning.

In a press briefing after the arms haul, Rab legal and media wing director Habibur Rahman said they are trying to find out who stockpiled the arms and ammunition, and the drive will continue.

On Tuesday, he told reporters that Rab intelligence wing had kept vigil at Tepra slum and its adjoining bordering areas in Satchhari.
