MoU signed: Nassa Group workers to join work today

Workers of Nassa Group-owned apparel factories agreed to join work from today (Monday) following a fruitful meeting with the management.
The workers earlier went on rampage Saturday which left more than a hundred injured, over a dozen vehicles damaged and several adjoining apparel factories ransacked.
The workers of Nassa Group have been abstaining from work since September 20 demanding increased allowances and attendance bonus.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the general workers and Nassa Group management at the BGMEA office Sunday evening after a marathon meeting that lasted four hours.
Managing director of the Nassa Group Nazrul Islam Swapan and few workers representing the general workers signed on behalf of their respective sides.
While talking to the FE, BGMEA acting president ABM Shamsuddin Ahmed said that the labour unrest was resolved and the workers would resume their work in full swing from today (Monday).
"The workers and the management of the Nassa Group are happy over the amicable resolution relating to the demands of the workers," BGMEA acting president added.
The management of the Nassa Group agreed to raise the attendance allowance to Tk 125 from existing Tk 100.
The Nassa Group management also agreed to raise Iftar allowance to Tk 10 provided the workers return to work after Iftar.
Marzina, Beauty, Sultan and other co-workers were present at the meeting besides BGMEA second vice president Faisal Samad, former BGMEA presidents Annisul Huq and other directors.
