The nation observed a one-day state mourning on Tuesday over deaths and injuries in the tragic crash of a Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) training aircraft at Milestone School and College in the capital's Uttara Diabari area, reports BSS.

As part of observing the mourning day, the national flag was hoisted at half-mast at all government, semi-government, autonomous, and private institutions, including educational institutions across the country, as well as at all Bangladesh missions abroad.

A total of 29 people had so far been reported killed after the BAF aircraft had crashed into the school building in Uttara, Professor Md Sayedur Rahman, the chief adviser's special assistant for health and family welfare, confirmed.

At least 78 people were undergoing treatment at different hospitals and five of them were in a critical condition, he said.

Special prayers were offered at mosques and other places of worship across the country, seeking the early recovery of the injured and eternal peace for those who lost their lives in the plane crash.
