NBR urged to revoke its decision on Hasina, family members' accounts

Describing the freezing of Awami League (AL) president Sheikh Hasina and her family members' bank accounts as violation of fundamental rights, party Environment Affairs secretary Hasan Mahmud urged the National Board of Revenue (NBR) to revoke its decision, reports UNB.
The NBR Thursday asked the all commercial banks to freeze the accounts of Sheikh Hasina, her husband M Wajed Miah, sister Sheikh Rehana, son Sajeeb Wajed Joy and daughter Saima Wajed Putul and her husband. It also asked the banks to freeze the accounts of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum, Bangabandhu Memorial Trust and Grenade Affected Welfare Trust.
About Wajed Miah's account, Hasan said, "Wajed Miah is now in hospital. His is in critical condition. How will he continue his treatment now?"
Hasan, also the private secretary of Sheikh Hasina, made the remarks while talking to reporters at the gate of sub-jail on the compound of Parliament Complex where Hasina is now detained.
He said Bangabandhu Memorial is a service-oriented institution and the future of about 12,00 students and 44 employees involved with it has become uncertain due to the freezing of its account.
Referring to the accounts of Rehana, Joy, Putul and her husband, the AL leader asked, why were their accounts frozen?" "What's their fault? They are not staying in Bangladesh!
