The National Economic Council (NEC), the government's highest policy making body, is likely to approve Tk385 billon "ambitious" annual development programme (ADP) for the fiscal 2010-11, beginning on July 1.
Planning ministry officials said the draft ADP will be placed today (Tuesday) before the NEC meeting, to be chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, for approval.
The planning commission on May 19 finalised the draft Tk385 billion ADP allocating highest Tk 71.94 billion fund for the local government division, officials said.
Planning ministry officials said the ailing power sector will receive the second highest allocation of Tk47.21 billion, Tk 15.88 billion higher than that in the development budget of the outgoing fiscal 2009-10.
Out of total outlay, the planning commission has proposed to supply Tk197 billion or 51 per cent from the local resources while Tk 188 billion or 49 per cent from the external resources.
The proposed next year ADP is Tk 80 billion higher than Tk305 billion original outlay and Tk100 billion up from the Tk 285 billion revised allocations in the outgoing fiscal 2009-10.
