New Delhi urges Dhaka to make Dolura LCS operational

New Delhi has requested Dhaka to make Dolura, a land customs station (LCS) in Sunamganj, operational with an eye to facilitating customs-related issues between Bangladesh and India.
Earlier, the Indian embassy sent a note verbale to foreign ministry in Dhaka to look into the matter and take the next course of action as early as possible.
The ministry has forwarded the note to the National Board of Revenue (NBR) for taking necessary steps to this end.
India has conveyed that its Balat LCS is already a notified route on the Indian side.
According to the agreed minutes, the 14th Joint Group of Customs Meeting on 21-22 August 2023 discussed the subject.
Currently, there are more than 30 LCSs between the two neighbouring countries.
Earlier in 2018, India gave transshipment facilities to carry containerised cargoes by roads and railways, and utilise their specified LCSs, seaports and airports to export goods to third countries.
