Quader able to walk now slowly

Obaidul Quader is now able to walk for a limited time after receiving treatment at the Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore. Prof Abu Naser Rizvi, the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University director who is accompanying the Road Transport and Bridges Minister to Singapore, shared the information on Monday. "The minister is able to walk for a limited time. He is likely to be shifted to cabin from the ICU on Tuesday morning as his condition has improved as expected," he said. — Agencies

Dickson new British HC to Bangladesh

Robert Chatterton Dickson has been appointed as new British High Commissioner to Bangladesh. Chatterton Dickson, who arrived Sunday, will present his credentials to President Abdul Hamid today (Tuesday), said an official. He has been Acting Ambassador in the British Embassy, Kabul, since February 2015 and before that he was Deputy Ambassador from July 2013. Dickson served as additional director, Western Balkans Programme at Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO). — UNB

UP chairman held at HSIA with revolver

Security personnel of Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) arrested on Monday a passenger at the domestic terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for carrying a revolver and seven rounds of bullets without prior declaration. The passenger was identified as Mehedi Masud Hossain, chairman of Fulsar union parishad under Chougachha upazila in Jashore and general secretary of upazila Awami League. According to a press release, the airport authority handed him over to the police. — FE Report
