SCBA voting begins today

Voting in two-day polls to elect the office bearers for 2019-2020 of Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) will begin today (Wednesday). Voting will begin at 10.00am and will continue until 5.00pm with one hour break in the middle on election days. — BSS

Khulna div jute mill workers strike

KHULNA, Mar 12: Workers of state-owned jute mills in Khulna division were enforcing a 24-hour strike to press home their nine-point demand that includes payment of outstanding wages. The strike began at 8.00am Tuesday. "Our major demands include implementation of wage commission and regularisation of job," said Md Murad, convener of Bangladesh Jute Mill Workers League of Khulna-Jashore region. — UNB

EU adds UAE, Fiji to tax haven blacklist

BRUSSELS, Mar 12: European Union governments adopted a broadened blacklist of tax havens on Tuesday, the EU commission said in a statement. Aruba, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, Fiji, Marshall Islands, Oman, the UAE, Vanuatu and Dominica are added to the list. — Reuters
