AL collects nomination form from EC for Hamid
As a ruling Awami League candidate, the nomination form for the presidential election was collected on behalf of President M Abdul Hamid. Chief Whip of the Jatiya Sangsad ASM Feroz collected the nomination form from the Election Commission (EC) in the city on Friday. "The Awami League has nominated M Abdul Hamid as a presidential election candidate in the greater interest of the country as well as the nation," said the Chief Whip while collecting the form. The nomination form will be submitted on February 5. Whips of the Jatiya Sangsad M Shahiduzzaman Sarker, M Sahab Uddin and Iqbalur Rahim, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Khan M Nurul Huda, Awami League's central executive parliamentary committee member ABM Reazul Kabir Kawsar and secretary of the EC secretariat were present, among others, on the occasion. The voting of the presidential election will be held on February 18 from 2 pm to 5 pm at the Jatiya Sangsad. Police arrest BNP leaders Aman, Nazim
Police arrested on Friday BNP Chairperson's adviser Aman Ullah Aman and executive committee member Nazim Uddin Alam from the Mahakhali DOHS in the city, according to the local electronic media. The police also arrested Rajshahi city BNP leader Matiur Rahman and three others from the city's Nayapaltan area. Earlier on the day the police arrested ABM Mosharraf Hossain, Training Affairs Secretary of BNP, from near Uttara while he was returning to the capital from Tongi. BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said the police were arresting the BNP leaders to foil the executive committee meeting today (Saturday). — FE Desk
