Finance Minister A H M Mustafa Kamal said on Sunday the budget for the next fiscal year (FY) would be pro-growth and pro-development.
Mr Kamal said these while briefing newsmen after a pre-budget meeting with representatives of the country's think-tanks and research organisations.
Representatives from Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS), Economic Research Group (ERG), Bangladesh Economic Association (BEA), and Policy Research Institute (PRI) attended the meeting, among others.
The minister said the new budget will also focus on safety-net issue.
The new VAT act will be effective from next July. But, implementation of the act across the country will take time, Mr Kamal opined.
The new budget will be prepared in the simplest way, so that people can understand it, he added.
