Of the total fatalities, 47 were confirmed as measles cases since March 15 this year, said the DGHS in its bulletin.
According to it, 163 new confirmed measles cases were also reported in the past 24 hours along with 1,276 new infections with measles-like symptoms.
Since mid-March, a total of 34,662 suspected measles cases were reported along with 4,856 other confirmed cases of measles.
However, some 23,348 patients were admitted to hospitals and 19,991 of them had returned home after recovery.
Meanwhile, the health ministry vaccinated over 10 million jabs in two separate arrangements since April 5.
Measles is a highly contagious viral disease, which affects individuals of all ages and remains one of the leading causes of death among young children globally.
Measles is usually a mild or moderately severe disease. However, measles can lead to complications such as pneumonia, diarrhea, secondary ear infection, inflammation of the brain (encephalitis), blindness, and death.
Bangladesh had made substantial progress towards measles elimination before this outbreak.
However, nationwide stock out of vaccine for 2024-2025 caused an increase in the number of susceptible children and contributed to the current outbreak, said WHO.
Measles is endemic across the South-East Asia region, according to it.
