Home Affairs Adviser Maj Gen (retd) MA Matin Sunday said there would be no major anti-corruption drives before general elections slated for December, Reports UNB

"We have no plan now for big anti-corruption drives," he told reporters when asked whether the government plans to go for major anti-corruption drives before the polls.

Matin, chairman of the National Coordination Committee (NCC) on serious crime and corruption, made the remarks after attending a meeting of the NCC at the Armed Forces Division in Dhaka Cantonment.

He said out of 222 corruption cases dealt with by the NCC, 76 cases have been prioritized considering the importance of the offence and persons involved in the cases.

The NCC chairman said there would be more coordination between the NCC, the Law Ministry, the Anti-corruption Commission and the Attorney General's office in dealing with the cases.
