There has been tangible progress in the investigation into the carnage at the BDR headquarters, and evidence gathering in this connection is almost complete, said the investigation officer (IO) of the mutiny case, reports UNB.
"We've been making progress gradually, and we've almost finished the work of collecting evidences of the carnage at the Pilkhana BDR headquarters," IO Abdul Kahar Akand told reporters Friday.
The IO, also the ASP of Criminal Investigation Department (CID), said they would investigate whether any outsider was involved in the tragic incidents.
"We're now questioning the arrested BDR jawans believed to have been involved in the brutality," he added.
The IO expressed the hope that they would be able to submit their report soon.
Earlier, intelligence agencies and committees formed to investigate the Pilkhana carnage started working in coordination to cooperate with CID so that it can finally come up with a strong charge sheet after investigation.
The CID team is working to detect the offenders through fingerprints on the arms, helmets, belts, nameplates and uniforms left by the BDR members.
Three teams are working to identify the people who were involved in the killing, arson and looting during the mutiny on February 25-26.
Meanwhile, bdnews24.com adds: Investigators have identified over 100 BDR mutineers by combing through television footage and newspaper photographs, an army officer said Thursday.
Another officer, who identified himself as Major Imran, has said investigators have been analysing the media coverage of the mutiny and have established many of the mutineers' identities.
One of those identified was Abdur Rahman Nilu, whose father was arrested in Bogra Wednesday with gold and cash allegedly looted from officers' homes during the February 25-26 mutiny at the BDR's Peelkhana headquarters.
