People urged to send flood aid to CA's relief fund


The government has urged people to contribute to the Chief Adviser's Relief and Welfare Fund to support those affected by the floods.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Chief Adviser's press wing said many people are showing interest in providing help and support to those affected by the ongoing devastating floods.
The government welcomes such noble gesture of standing by the people in distress, it said.
At least 13 people have lost their lives, and nearly 900,000 people have remained stranded as of Friday morning due to flash floods across the country.
Md Kamrul Hasan, secretary of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, shared this information during a press conference at the Secretariat on Friday afternoon.
In total, the floods have impacted 4,497,535 people across 11 districts, with approximately 887,629 families being trapped by the rising waters.

BSS adds: Bangladesh Army has donated money, equivalent to one day's salary of its all members, to Chief Adviser's Relief Fund aiming to help flood victims across the country.
Bangladesh Army though its verified Facebook page, said the money has been donated to help the victims of ongoing flash flood that has ravaged Feni, Chattogram, Cumilla, Noakhali, Sunamganj, Habiganj districts.
Different units of Bangladesh Army are conducting rescue operations in flood-hit areas, distributing foods and essentials, airlifting people stranded in places hard to reach by any other means.
Army's medical teams are also providing treatment to flood victims in many areas.
