BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia Saturday said people want to see a united BNP, not a split one, as it is the most popular party of the country, reports UNB.
About the reform proposals placed by the party's some front ranking leaders, led by its secretary general Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan, Khaleda said, "No reform would be accepted without the consent of the party leaders and workers at the grassroots level."
"BNP was established with the blood and sweat of the mass people. So how could there be reform of the party without the consent of these people?" she told reporters.
The former Prime Minister was talking to journalists after she visited ailing BNP party treasurer Shah Alam at his Shyamoli residence Saturday afternoon.
Earlier, Khaleda Zia met a doctor at Banani for the checkup of her eyes.
