FE REPORT | March 16, 2024 00:00:00

The hijacked Bangladeshi flag-carrier vessel MV Abdullah was being shifted on Friday from the place where it was moored on Thursday close to the Somalian coast.

Md Atik Ullah Khan, chief officer of the Bangladeshi ship, conveyed it to the ship owner on Friday afternoon through an e-mail.

Chief executive officer of the SR Shipping Ltd, the ship-owning company, told newsmen that all the crew members of the hijacked ship were doing well.

The pirates were not misbehaving with the sailors, he said.

Mr Khan said the pirates were yet to contact the ship owner about any ransom.

The Bangladesh bulk carrier ship was hijacked by the Somalian pirates from Indian Ocean on Tuesday en route to Al Hamriyah Port of the UAE carrying coal from Mozambique's Maputo port.

There are 23 crew members onboard the ship who have been taken hostage by the pirates.
